At least 320 women in Gombe state have been trained by Fadama lll project in poultry production under the leadership of the wife of Gombe state governor, Hajiya Adama Dankwambo.
The commissioner of Agriculture in Gombe state Alhaji Buba Biri, who made the disclosure yesterday, during a programme organised by Ministry of Agriculture, Fadama lll project and Hajiya Dankwambo’s office, at Maidugu Guest House in Gombe, said the training was necessary to reduce poverty among women in the state.
He emphasised that government would do everything possible to ensure that women in the area benefitted from the gesture.
The commissioner also said that government had strategies and modalities to enable women become self-reliant and so, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo wisely created training programmes for the benefit of women in the state.
Speaking at the event, Hajiya Dankwambo, who was represented by the wife of the deputy governor, Mrs. Sintiki Jason Rabainu, said the Dankwambo administration would not relent in assisting women .
She called on the trainees to take the exercise seriously by following the footsteps of women who previously benefited from the gesture, in order to become meaningful in society.
