Kaduna State Government yesterday doled out N13 million to victims of fire incidence at Kasuwar Barchi market in Tudun wada area and Zaria market in Kaduna.
The state Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero disclosed this while speaking to some traders and traditional leaders in Tudun Wada District ward of Kaduna South Local government of the state yesterday.
Governor Yero who was represented by his Director General, Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, said the N13 million was giving out to assist the traders and not as compensation.
According to him, “the N10 million was given to traders in wood market in Zaria, while N3 million to traders in Tudun Wada market in Kaduna.
“The money was only given out to assist the traders and not as compensation. We pray that Allah replenishes the lost suffered by the victims,” the Director General stated.
In his own remarks, the District Head of Sabon Gari, in Tudun wada area, Alhaji Yau Kachalla commended the government for the gesture describing it as one which would go a long way to assist the traders resume their business.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that some weeks ago the state experienced series of fire incidence leading to the loss of properties worth millions of naira in the market areas.
