A group known as the Return Ambode 2019 has praised Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for conceding defeat to Babajide Sanwo-Olu who won the All Progressive Party Congress (APC) primary election in Lagos state.
A statement jointly signed by National Coordinator, Prince Ayei Ukagu and the General Secretary Sule Oyofo, said “there is more to gain in maintaining peace and tranquility as politics is not a do or die affairs”, which Ambode has demostrated through his attitude.
According to the statement, despite the massive gang up against the Lagos state governor, his magnanimity and calmness was able to bring the situation under control to ensure that the state was not been thrown into turmoil.
“Governor Ambode has worked well for the growth of the state and is a reputable bridge builder which it was right and normal for him to express his desire for second term in office.”
The Group further apprises Ambode who through his attitude was able to state the fact that his second term ambition was not such a big problem to sacrifice for the gains already achieved as he sees the state bigger than any personal ambition.
Meanwhile, the statement urged the APC hierarchy to forget about the governor’s determined stance during the primaries.
The National leader of the All Progressive Congress Bola Tinubu and the People of Lagos state should also continue to support the governor in his remaining months of his regime in office to ensure the successful implementation of his laudable programmes and activities.
“ The acceptance of defeat by Ambode in ensuring peace, Lagos state officials should not relent in cooperating with him and show loyalty, and forget about the idea of impeachment as there was nothing to gain from such negative practice”, the statement said.
