A group of professionals known as Return Ambode 2019 has hailed the Lagos state Governor, Adewunmi Ambode, for reconciliation with the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress Party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by National Coordinator, Prince Ayei Ebri Ukagu and Publicity Secretary, Oyofo Sule, which said “This is the best way forward as democracy has no other name than fairness, equity and justice. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Except playing politics, there is absolutely no justification for denying Governor Ambode his second term in office”.
The statement further explained that “this is important because Governor Ambode has not only worked; he has also shown himself publicly to be loyal and honest. If democracy is to have any meaning, the most credible thing to do at this time is to give him massive support”.
“Governor Ambode is one Governor that has displayed humility and integrity in the discharge of his duties and functions of office; he has also been loyal to members of the public, as well as leaders of the All Progressive Congress in Lagos”.
The Group expressed their strong conviction that if democracy is all about dishing out dividends, provision of scarce resources, amenities and infrastructural development, then, Governor Ambode has performed beyond expectations.
Consequently, the statement added that it is Ambode’s constitutional rights to contest for second term in office, adding that those scheming to deny him of this opportunity are doing so out of ignorance.
“Governor Ambode needs 100% supports. It should be known that aspirants who picked their forms at this late hour did so as an after-thought. We should worry more about the legacy we are leaving behind for the next generation of Nigerians rather than playing petty politics. There is no vacancy in Lagos for anyone to contest.
