A 28-year old security guard, Yakubu Yohanna , has appeared before a Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for alleged negligent conduct.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the accused, a resident of Chika Village, Airport Road, Abuja, was arraigned before the court presided over by the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Temino Zimz, on one-count charge of negligent conduct.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Abba Sanni , told the court that a Security Supervisor, Idris Ayinde, reported the matter at Wuse Police Station.
Sanni alleged that the supervisor to the accused had sometimes in May posted him to guard and protect one residential apartment behind Living Faith Church, Durumi, in Abuja.
He told the court that the accused allegedly became negligent and allowed unknown persons on same day at about 12.00 a.m. to steal a Toyota Corolla 2008 model car under his care.
He adds: “Right now, the car in question is still missing while the case is still under investigation.’’
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 196 of the Penal Code.
Yohanna , however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
