Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped the third class chief of Robochi community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Ibrahim Pada.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rubochi, S.P Michael Ada, who confirmed this to our correspondent on Wednesday, said the traditional ruler was abducted at his resident at midnight on Tuesday.
“We received information that unknown gunmen at midnight stormed the apartment of the chief of Rubbochi and took him to unknown destination,” he said.
He said when the information was received, the command the command immediately formed a search-and-rescue team which is now working assiduously to rescue the traditional ruler unhurt.
The DPO said the command would update members of the public on developments on the issue, adding that efforts were on to rescue the monarch from his abductors.
Mr Madaki Dogara, a resident of the community, said the incident occurred around 1.30am last night.
He said the gunmen who wore army camouflage in their large numbers carrying sophisticated weapons, shot sporadically in the air before whisking away the chief.
According to him, two children belonging to the traditional ruler were seriously sustained casualties when the gunmen abducted the chief.
