Some gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram members, yesterday attacked Kubla Village of Madagali Local Government area of Adamawa state burning places of worship and houses.
Reports had it that, the suspected insurgency killed many people and injured many more.
Some residents of the affected village who fled the area said that they were attacked by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members in the night.
”They used explosives during the attack on the churches and many people lost their lives”, local villagers recounted their ordeals.
”I cannot actually say how many people were kill but I saw about six died bodies being evacuated”, one of the residents who identified himself as Heldia Apogu said.
Another resident claimed that some houses were also attacked by the gunmen who took some men as hostage.
”I saw some people crying saying that their relations had been taken away as hostage by the gunmen”, the resident who prefer anonymity said.
Attempt to get the military and police authorities to comment on the incident did not yield result.
The council chairman of Madagali, Mr. James Abawu Watharda said that four people lost their lives during the attack.
He said the Army have sealed up the area and were hunting for the fleeing attackers.
‘’ Four people were killed and two churches, including houses, were set ablaze by the attackers, as all the villagers have fled away,’’ said the council chairman.
Madagali Local Government is bordering Gwoza Local Government of Borno state, known for series of insurgent attacks since the declaration of the state of emergency.
