Some residents of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have called on the chairman of the Area Council, Adamu Mustapha Danze to repair the dilapidated roads in the area.
They also urged the chairman to provide basic necessities of life for the people at the grassroots level.
The residents who spoke to Peoples Daily in separate interviews on Saturday in Gwagwalada, lamented that motorists and commuters go through hardships on daily basis while plying some dilapidated roads in Gwagwalada.
Ismaila Yabuku, a resident, said that despite the monthly subventions come to the Area Council, the chairman had failed to repair some bad roads within Gwagwalada and its environs.
Yakubu said that the chairman had abandoned the sharp corner road that leading to Anguwan Ajara community, noting that the road serves as a death trap.
Another resident, Salisu Garba, accused the chairman of neglecting the Aguma road that linking to FRCN down to Old Kutunku community, saying that the motorists usually find it difficult to pass the road.
He complained that the administration of the Area Council had failed to complete the ongoing upgrade of the Primary Health Care Centre in the community.
A trader in the Gwagwalada main market, Mrs. Ngozi John tongue-lashed the chairman for not rehabilitated the market road that also leading to FRCN, noting that the road is in deplorable state.
Idris Shuaibu, a resident in Zuba in Gwagwalada Area Council, chided the administration of Adamu Mustapha Danze on the state of bad roads in Zuba.
Shuaib, however, expressed dismay the manner at which the chairman abandoned the fruits market road that was generating a lot of revenue to the Area Council.
On the part of the council’s contractors, those who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that despite the roads project completed by the contractors in the area, the chairman had not paid some contractors.
