A house girl, Chioma Nwachukwu, 25, yesterday appeared before an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft of 6,000 dollars belonging to her employer.
Nwachukwu of No. 800, Blantyre St. Wuse 2, Abuja, is charged with stealing. The prosecutor, Cpl. Francis Tanko, told the court that a Zambian, Mrs. Joyce Nyendwa of Zambia High Commission, Abuja, reported the case at Wuse Police Station.
Tanko alleged that the accused entered her employer’s bedroom and stole the amount, equivalent to N1, 020,000 and later confessed during investigations to have committed the crime.
The Magistrate, MrsRamatuGulna, admitted the accused to N500, 000bail with a surety.
She said that the surety must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 10 or a businessman registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Gulna said that a photocopy of last promotion letter or the CAC certificate must be submitted to the court registrar and the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.She adjourned the case until May 14 for further hearing. (NAN)
