An emerging and aggressive politician in Kogi State, Mallam Abubakar Idris Ibrahim has regretted and lamented how government policy summersaults has stalled and grounded the well thought out policies and programmes of the Former President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari for the people of Kogi State.
He said “the housing programmes, land ports and water ways that the former president enunciated have all been grounded because of lack of focus to continue with the success initiative of government”
Addressing the press in Abuja yesterday, Idris said the state is an agrarian state, with bitumen, limestone etc. the state has no business with poverty as the state is endowed with all that could raise its Internal Generation Revenue (IGR) high but who will bell the cat?
Regrettably, he asked who is talking of reaching out to investors for the growth of the state. He stressed the need for the redirection of our strategies such as Information Technology (IT) Agriculture, Fashion design and several other viable skills such that the state will be busy and engaged.
According to him, Kogites are educated, Intelligent, Resourceful but they need a driver that will drive them forward.
On the issue of direct primary imposed on the parties by the National Assembly, Idris quarried the legislators for the step. He said where is democracy here if people are not allowed to decide and make their choice when in the constitution we are allowed to associate based on our choice, religion of our choice etc. and not allow us to do so in the primary election.
On the contentions issue of the electoral bill to be signed by President Mohammed Buhari, he said the best legacy he could bequeath to Nigerian people is to sign that bill into law. He said with the flaws and cancerous elections witnessed in 2019, nobody need to tell the president to do the right thing because as the results are transmitted electronically, everything will be seen obviously and all the thugs and the hoodlums will not be able to carry out their nefarious activities.
