Former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has promised to contribute to the development of Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Speaking when he received the Executive Committee members of the Bayero University Kano Alumni Association (BUKAA) at his hill top mansion in Minna, Niger State, Babangida, said he would do his best to assist the university.
He however did not state how he would help the institution, but said he would get in touch with alumni leadership in no distant feature to discuss how he would help.
The former Head of State, observed that BUK had continued to provide leadership for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and wondered what the secret was.
Babangida advised BUKAA to remain steadfast and opined that alumni associations have a role to play in the promotion of peace and academic excellence in the university campuses.
Earlier in his remarks, BUKAA President, Muhammad Dattijo Usman, had told Babangida that the BUKAA members decided to visit him in deference to his concern for the educational development of the country and to seek his blessing.
He recalled that the Babangida regime was responsible for the introduction of educational programmes for the gifted and the nomads.
