The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Benue State chapter has called on the international communities to come to aid of Nigeria over the senseless killings of citizens especially Christians.
Chairman of CAN, Rev Akpen Leva who made the call yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State capital during a protest at the NKST Church, Iortyer lamented over the high rate of crime in the country including kidnapping and banditry.
The protesters carried placards, some of which read, ‘Enough is Enough,’ Stop killing Christians in Nigeria, ‘Nigeria is a secular State and Release Leah Sharibu.
Rev. Leva who particularly, frowned at the beheading of a CAN Chairman in Adamawa State, decried that security agencies are shown to be helpless.
“We live in country where cows are honored than humans. Where mass burials are celebrated than wedding ceremonies. Where people claim responsibility for killings and are not arrested. Where there is high number of IDPs camps. We have no confidence in the leadership. The President and security agencies must sit up. That is why are praying and crying to God to intervene in our situation”, he said.
In a sermon, State Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN Bishop Mike Angou stressed that Christians must awake and be prepared in prayer against enemies of the church in Nigeria.
