Following the persistent of insecurity in some parts of the North, the Gwandu Emirate Development Association (GEDA) is to organise a sensitisation workshop on security, aimed curtailing the menace in the emirate.
In the workshop, about thirty district heads in the emirate would be invited, where they would brainstorm on how to tackle security situation in the emirate.
Addressing newsmen on Wednesday, in Birnin Kebbi, the Director-General of the GEDA, Abubakari Cika Ladan further revealed that the workshop is scheduled to hold on May 6, 2014.
He highlighted that after the workshop the district heads are expected to go back to their respective domains and educate their village and wards head.
Narrating the reason behind the workshop, the DG of GEDA said that recently, the emirate received about 100 indigenes of Gwandu emirate who returned back home as a result of constant attack of innocent citizens in Maiduguri.
The DG said GEDA was established since 1993, with aim of promoting unity among members of the emirate, pointing out that the association has achieved a lot, most especially in terms of education, health and financial assistant. ‘’We are building an office worth over N10million and also giving out scholarship to the less privileged’’ he stated.
