The non-interest Islamic Ja’iz bank through its foundation established for charity approaches over the weekend donated relief materials to the victims of various disasters in Zamfara.
While presenting the materials to the state government via State Emergency Management Agency (ZEMA), the member board of trustee to the bank, Alhaji Garba Muhammad Dakitakwas said, the bank has decided to initiate the foundation in order to render assistance to the victims affected by disasters with some facilities and relief materials.
The donated items among others are, 300 25kg bags of Rice, Millet, Guinea corn, number of Turkey oil, wrappers and bundles of brocades to alleviate the pain caused on the victims by the disasters.
Dakitakwas further informed that, similar gesture was extended to the government and people of Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and now Zamfara, stressing that, more of such gestures are in the pipeline for another set of victims in Katsina state.
He commended the effort of the State government for its rapid response to various forms of disasters and urged every well meaning citizen of the state to intensify prayer for the return of peace in Zamfara and Nigeria in general.
While receiving the donation on behalf of the State government, the Special Adviser to Zamfara State Governor on Emergency Management, Eng Musa Kwatarkwashi, has described the gesture as the first of its kind by any bank since the establishment of the Agency and hoped other commercial banks would follow suit.
