Jigawa state government has pledged to provide all necessary support and cooperation to the National IdentityManagement Commission (NIMC), so as to ensure that all citizens in the State register and obtain the National Identification Card.
The assurance was given by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Lawan Abdu during a joint meeting between officials of the State Office of the National Identification Management Commission and Local Government Councils Chairmen held at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
He said, the essence of the meeting was to receive progress report on the implementation of the resolutions reached at the previous meeting especially with regards to providing the Commission with office accommodation at the Local Governments level.
Alhaji Lawan Abdu observed that, judging from the importance of the exercise, there was the need for the Chairmen to give maximum cooperation towards the success of the exercise in their respective Local Government Areas.
The Secretary to the State Government had at the previous meeting, directed the Local Government Councils Chairmen in the State to provide at least three rooms, well furnished office accommodation to the National Identification Management Commission to enable them open registration centres in the Local Government areas.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress so far made towards the provision of office and house accommodation, and he therefore, charged the Local Government Chairmen not to relent in their efforts of providing all necessary logistics to the Commission.
Alhaji Lawan Abdu recalled that, the State Coordinator of the Commission had indicated that, the provision of the office accommodation would pave way for registration equipment to be installed. This, would in turn, facilitate the issuance of the identification card at the Local Government designated centres.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Salisu Sale Indirawa called on the Chairmen to be dedicated and committed to the exercise so as to maintain the new but well deserve status of the State as a pacesetter in all aspect of human endeavour.
