Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the award of contract for the construction of 35 maternity wings in various Basic Health Care Centres across the state.
The Commissioner of Information Youth Sports and Culture, Alhaji Muhd Alhassan disclosed this while briefing journalists shortly after the meeting held at Government House Dutse.
He explained that, this is part of the present administration’s effort to ensure easy access to hospital for pregnant women especially in rural communities adding that, the contract was given at the total sum of N601 million.
The commissioner maintained that, the state executive council also approved the contract for the upgrading and conversion of motorised water scheme to solar powered scheme as well as the construction of new ones at the cost of over 700 million naira.
According to him, the construction of solar powered water in the state will help in adequate water supply in the state.
Some of the local government to benefit from the projects include Dutse, Birnin Kudu, Gumel, Hadejia, Ringim and Jahun local governments at a total sum of over N700 million.
