Kaduna State Environmental Protection Authority (KEPA) has sealed off an apartment where decommissioned Gas cylinders are been refurbished.
The General Manager of the KEPA Hon. Lawal Jibri disclosed this while speaking to the media in kaduna yesterday.
According him the Agency acted on intelligent information and swapped on the premises.
He added that the operation was carried out in collaboration with Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR)
Hon. Lawal Jibri disclosed that confiscated over one thousand, seven hundred decommissioned Gas cylinders.
The apartment located in Kankagi road Tudun Wada in kaduna South Local Government Area where the Cylinders were stored was stormed in the wee hours.
The KEPA General Manager disclosed that cylinders were set for refurbishment and resold to innocent people.
“This criminal and wicked act and the culprits will be charged to court soon.
“The property has been sealed off and we are monitoring the situation in conjunction with the security and sister agency.
“We will recall that kaduna state Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai rencently banned Gas selling outlets from residential areas.
“We are executing the order; I am also using the medium to called on others criminal minded person to desist because there is no hiding places for them.
“I advised our people to always buy their Cylinders from certified company and always look for standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) seal on the cylinders before purchasing it”, he said.
A resident of the Area Mallam Musa Liman expressed dismay over the actions of the culprits, saying the building were the cylinders are stored is opposite to a primary school and only Allah saves their children from the greedy people.
He called on KEPA and DPR to look for more of such outlets and sealed it off.
