Kaduna State Government has banned activities of Tax collection agents operating in township roads and highways in Kaduna state. The Commissioner of Information, Hon. Ben Bako disclosed this to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
Bako said while the Kaduna State Government is not averse to the collection of approved taxes and levies in the state, there is the need for an organized modality for such collection.
“It has been observed with concern the activities of some tax collection agents in township roads and highways in Kaduna State. The agents stop vehicles and motorcycle drivers collecting money. The
situation has led to traffic hold-ups on our roads and complaints from the general public on the modalities of the operation. “While Kaduna State Government is not averse to the collection of
approved taxes and levies there is the need for an organized modality for such collection. In view of this therefore, the operation of these agents collecting such moneys and fees on the township roads and highways in the state is the hereby banned,” he said.
He therefore advised tax-paying general public to pay their taxes at designated payment centres as stipulated by the tax-receiving authorities.
