The Kaduna-based Islamic scholar who was shot by unknown gunmen at his residence located along Kwoi Close in Tudun Wada Kaduna on Tuesday night is dead.
A source in the area told Peoples Daily that the scholar, Malam Muhammed Usman Muhammed who was shot in the stomach, gave up at Yusuf Dantsoho Hospital Tudun Wada few hours after he was rushed there by the police for treatment.
“ He died at the hospital because he was shot severally by the gunmen. Infact, we learnt they removed about five bullets from his body. He was later brought home on Wednesday morning for burial,” a resident said.
It was gathered that thousands of people attended the burial at his resident amidst tears from family members.
It would be recalled that sources in the area said the five gunmen comprising of two ladies and three men, went to the scholar’s house in a Golf car and attacked him.
The incident, according to reports, occurred few minutes to 8pm on Tuesday night.
Reports from the area said his attackers went to his house looking for him and his wife unknowingly called him on phone to tell him of guests waiting for him .
When he returned home, the gunmen wasted no time in opening fire on him after which they entered their vehicle and fled the area.
