Kano State Police Command on Tuesday said it arrested no fewer than 220 suspected criminals for various offences, ranging from armed robbery, drugs dealing and thuggery.
Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdullahi Haruna said out of the 220 suspects, seven were armed robbers.
He explained that the suspects were nabbed during raids on criminal hideouts and black spots across the state between 29th March to 1st April, 2019.
He said, during the raids, the suspected criminals were arrested while some quantities of Indian hemp, suck and die solution, intoxicating drugs, knives and cutlasses were recovered.
The command’s image maker added that all the suspects were found to be dealing with hard drugs and possession if dangerous weapons, adding that all of them had confessed to committing the offences.
“Raids on such hideouts will continue throughout the state until all criminally mixed persons either repent or arrested and brought to law.
“This arrest is in continuation of the command ‘s earlier pledge to rid the state of all forms of crime,” Haruna said He said the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
The PPRO called on the residents of the state to continue cooperating with the command and report any person suspected to be member of any criminal gang.
