No fever than four hundred candidates have sat for a computer based qualifying test to study medicine and related courses overseas to be sponsored by the Kebbi State Government.
The Commissioner for Higher Education Prof. Mukhtar Umar Bunza Stated this yesterday while briefing newsmen at the ICT Center Waziri Umaru Fedaral Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, one of the examination Center in the State.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Halima Boyi Dikko said the State Government is committed to improving the medical and para medical disciplines with the aim of taking the State to the next level of development.
Hajiya Halima Boyi Dikko further added that, the Ministry has constituted a higher powerful stakeholders selection committee headed by the Commissioner for Higher Education Prof. Mukhtar Umar Bunza in collaboration with all the 21 Local Government Council Chairmen in the State for distribution of forms to enligible kebbi state indigenes.
The Permanent Secretary commended Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for sponsoring the oversea studies that will improve the health and related sector of the state.
She used the medium to called on the successful students to show more commitment in their studies and be good ambassador of the state and Country.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, Kebbi State Scholarship Board, Malam Sanusi Garba said forms were distributed to all the 21 Local Government areas of the State inorder to have Students from the grassroots across the state.
Garba appreciated the state government for giving the Ministry for Higher Education and the scholarship Board the mandate to conduct the the screening exercise for oversea studies of medical, para medical and engineering courses.
A cross section of the candidates who Spoke to Newsmen, thanked the State Government for the opportunity given to them seat for the qualifying examination to study abroad.
They said the gesture will enable candidate from poor backgrounds the opportunity to study Health related and engineering courses and promised to be more commitment and good ambassadors of the state if qualify.
The computer based examination was conducted at Waziri Umaru Fedaral Polytechnic BK,Al asar computer center Bk, Kebbi State University of Science Aliero as well as Argungu and Zuru centers respectively.
