The Kwara state government has disclosed that it has spent N3.7billion in rehabilitation and equipment of five general hospitals located in three senatorial districts.
The Commissioner for Health, Hon Abdulwahab Issa who confirmed this during a press conference ahead of May 29, democracy day along other members of the government cabinet said the five general hospitals will be commissioned by governor Abdulfatah Ahmed this week.
The General Hospitals include Ilorin General Hospitals, Omu-Aran, Offa, Kiama General hospitals.
The Commissioner for Health said apart from modern equipment, the hospitals have employed new nurses and Consultants.
While speaking on the May 29, the Chairman of the organising Committee, and Commissioner for Works and Transports,Dr Abubakar Kaninke, disclosed that 5,200 unemployed youth will be given employment under the Quickwin employment scheme designed by the state government.
He added that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure that life and property of people of the state are well protected.
