The Kwara state government has been urged to honour the winners of Quar’an competitors as other Northern States did for their citizens.
The State Organising Committee of Qur’an recitation made the plea during the presentation of prizes for winners at the Jigawa State Qur’an recitation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Ayinla Ayilara appealed to the Kwara state government to honour the competitors who had brought honour to the state.
He noted that if Jigawa State Governor which hosted this year Qur’an competition could give winners cars, scholarship, laptops, cash and other gifts, there was nothing stop Kwara government from emulating the gesture.
In his remark, Alhaji Waliyu Ali Kamaldeen, the Coordinator of Qur’an Competition, disclosed that for eight years, the State has being participating in the Qur’an competition, the State Government had
not honoured its ambassadors.
He said many northern States had issued hajj slots, scholarships, housing, cars gifts to their state representatives.
While presenting cars gifts and cash to this winners of Qur’an competition held at Jigawa, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Saka Onimago assured the Committee that the State Government will continue to support them.
The c ommissioner, represented by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ahmid Alabi said the winners have brought honour and glory to the state stressing that the ministry would convey their
messages to the appropriate quarters.
Participants, Sodiq Alabi, Hajarat Iman-Fulani who emerged as best winners in the competition received new Hyundai cars from Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido with Hp Laptop, and cash, scholarship to study in any part of the world among other gifts.
