The Chairman, Isin local government area of Kwara State, Barrister Maaruf Thani has concluded arrangements to establish agriculture village in the council area, worth about N500 million.
Thani, who disclosed this at a press conference in Owu-Isin, headquarters of the council to mark his 100 days in office, said the project when completed would address the problems of food security and youth employment as well as provide raw materials for agro-allied industries.
“My administration accorded the agricultural sector top priority based on our understanding that with proper systemic and holistic planning, this sector will not only produce food for the populace, it will also provide the much needed materials for our agro-allied industry.
“In this connection, we have isolated 100 hectres of land for this agriculture programme as first step. The funding of this project will not be through monthly allocations, but from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)”. Thani, a former Special Adviser to the State Governor on Budget Monitoring, further disclosed.
