From Olanrewaju Lawal, Ilorin
The Kwara State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, has counselled the eldest son of the erstwhile governor of the State, late Alhaji Mohammed Lawal, Akeem to sustain his father’s legacies.
Oyedepo gave the advice yesterday in Ilorin while receiving in audience members of Mohammed Lawal group of the PDP led by the eldest son of the deceased politician, Alhaji Akeem Lawal.
The Chairman, who served as Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly during Lawal’s administration between 1999 and 2003, maintained that the administration impacted positively on the lives of people.
“I am a Lawalite to the core. As a major participant in that government, I can confirm that all the projects and programmes embarked upon by Lawal administration have positive impacts on Kwarans.
“It is in the light of this that I admonished you to build up the legacies of your late father with a view to sustaining them. A decade after the demise of the former governor, people are still endeared to him. This is a good testimony of what he had contributed to their lives”.
Oyedepo also assured members of the party that he would not align with any group within the PDP, saying he would foster unity of purpose in order to ensure victory for the party in 2015 polls.
He further pledged the group’s unflinching loyalty and supports to the newly constituted executive council of the party. “Our coming here today is to congratulate you on your victory at the polls. Besides, we want to advice you not to align with any individual or group within our party.
