The youth wing of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU,) has been rocked by leadership crisis as the National Coordinator of the Wing, Comrade Nasiru Jagaba has been impeached from office.
The removal of Jagaba was announced by the Public Relations Officer of the Union Mori, Shuaibu Ibrahim in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
According to the statement, the formal national coordinator was removed from office for gross misconduct and breach of the union constitution.
The statement added that the impeachment was signed by officials of the National Executives of the Union amongst which are : Comrade James Moses Nyinom , Comrade Silvanus Tawai , Comrade Mori, Shuaibu Ibrahim , Comrade Bazinbe M. Abel and Comrade Solomon Simon respectively.
“The Union therefore resolved to impeach Nasiru Jagaba shortly after the emergency national meeting held on the 3rd February 2018 in Kaduna adding that the misconduct of the sacked coordinator has embarrassed and portrayed the image of the SOKAPU youth wing into a bad light and his behavior has contravened and violated the constitution of the union in sub – section 1a &1c in page 34 as amended 2009.
“The Union therefore unanimously agreed and appointed Comrade Solomon Simon as the new acting coordinator of the SOKAPU National Youth Wing and called on its union members to give all the necessary cooperation to the new coordinator of the union,” the statement said.
However the purported impeached Youth National President, Nasiru Jagaba in a swift reaction has refuted claims of his circulated alleged impeachment letter stressing that It was a sponsored activity that lack constitutional merit.
He stated this in a statement he personally signed and issued to press men in Kaduna yesterday.
“The Union has code of conduct guiding all the activities of the Union. Whoever has grievances should follow the right channel.
“I call on the youth of Southern Kaduna to disregard this jamboree arrangement, those in view did not mean well for the growth and development of our region,” the statement reiterated.
According to him,”The Union is strong and it is a calculated attempt to undermine the SOKAPU body, the coup is already unsuccessful.
He noted that,” The purported letter in circulation of my impeachment by some disgruntled elements who do not mean well for the peace and progress of Southern Kaduna people.
He maintained that,” I remain the democratically elected coordinator of the Youth Wing of SOKAPU! Any person(s) aggrieved on any issue concerning the activities of the Union leadership should follow the existing constitutional provisions.
“I call on all our youths and well meaning individuals/ groups to disregard that evil information and remain calm and law abiding.” he added.
