Civil servants from levels 1 to 12 in Yobe state have been directed to resume normal working hours with effect from Monday, the 18th of August,2020.
This is part of the resolutions reached by the state Covid-19 prevention and control committee at the end of it’s 15th meeting which took place yesterday at the WAWA Hall in the government house, Damaturu, the state capital.
Consequent to that, heads of ministries, departments, and agencies have been directed to put in place and ensure full observance of Covid-19 protocals.
The committee has equaly directed the state ministry of education to safely reopen schools for students in SS3 and JSS3 who are preparing for their final examinations.
the resolutions also urged banks, markets and private organizations to ensure social distancing in their offices as well as obsrve other Covid-19 protocals, and also reminded the citizens that the wearing of face masks in all public places is mandatory and should be strictily observed.
The committee used the occasion to re-emphasize that the pandemic of Covid-19 is not yet over and that the disease is real, thus it stated that prevention remains the only means for prevention and control of the disease which includes the observation of social distancing, proper wearing of face masks, observance of good respiratory etiquettes and early access to healthcare facilities whenever ill.
It revealed that the state molecular laboratory has started working so far with a capacity to test 98 suspected patients at a go and has so far tested 40 persons with one positve result, while other 43 persons are waiting to be tested.
