Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has given political parties a three-day deadline for the purchase and submission of forms for the conduct of the May 17 local government election.
Speaking to reporters in Kano yesterday, KANSIEC Chairman, Dr Sani Lawal Malumfashi,said he confirmed that he Commission has extended the period of purchase and submission of the forms for three days, from April 8, 2014 to April 10, 2014, insisting that there would be no more extension.
According to him, only five candidates have submitted their forms, which informed the decision of the decision of the Commission to extend the date for submission.
‘’Let me categorically state here that this is the third and last time that the Commission will extend the time for the purchase and submission of the forms to KANSIEC and has also directed receiving banks to extend the period to enable candidates pay and purchase the forms,” he said.
However, he assured that the KANSIEC is prepared to conduct a free and fair Local Government election against insinuations that the Commission is planning to manipulate the guidelines and time table for the LG polls in favour of a particular party.
