A 43-year old man, Lawal Adekunle, appeared before an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court, Ogun, charged with duping accommodation seeker, Ogbuji Peter, of N225,000.
Adekunle, who lives at No. 42, Oresanya St., Sango-Ota, Ogun, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Peter Molokwu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 19 at about 10.00 a.m. at 38b, Unity St., Oke-Aro Agbado, Ota, Ogun.
Molokwu said the accused collected N225,000 on the pretext of helping the complainant to get a mini flat but failed to fulfill the agreement.
He said the offences contravened sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1 of the Revised Law of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Bello said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide one year tax clearance certificate as part of the bail conditions.
She said the address of the surety must be verified by the police.
The case was adjourned till July 30 for hearing. (NAN)
