Man Utd winger Jadon Sancho will train away from the first team until issues with manager Erik ten Hag are resolved.
Ten Hag left Sancho out of his squad for the loss at Arsenal earlier this month, saying the winger’s training performances had been below standard.
Sancho, 23, rejected the Dutchman’s reasoning and claimed he had been “a scapegoat for a long time”.
United said in a statement Sancho would be on a “personal training programme away from the first team”.
The statement added that the decision was made “pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.”
The news comes in a week where another United forward, Antony, also stepped away from first-team duties amid domestic abuse allegations made by his former partner.
Sancho moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in 2021.
But he has struggled for consistent form since making the switch, and has scored only nine goals and provided just six assists in his 58 Premier League appearances.
Last season Sancho spent three months battling physical and mental issues, with Ten Hag at one point saying the England international was not fit enough to play.
He returned to action in the EFL Cup semi-final win against Nottingham Forest on 1 February and a week later sparked a comeback against Leeds United in the Premier League, scoring the equaliser in a 2-2 draw.
Ten Hag spoke of his pride in “magnificent” Sancho in the aftermath, but Sancho’s involvement has lessened since then.
He has made three substitute appearances this season with United winning two and losing two of their opening four Premier League fixtures.
Over six days, the continent’s nations will be in action trying to strengthen their claim for a place in the finals in Germany.
This includes the home nations, with England and Scotland already in a very strong position in their groups.
However, some major countries have plenty of work to do to qualify.
BBC Sport gives you the lowdown on how qualifying is shaping up and the fixtures to look out for in the coming days.
Upcoming 2024 European Championship qualifying fixtures
Scotland & England lead home nations’ charge
Scotland are in magnificent shape in Group A, sitting way out in front of the rest with four wins out of four and a very healthy total of 12 points.
They have a big opportunity to add to that on Friday night when they travel to Cyprus, who are bottom of the group without a point from three games. Steve Clarke’s team have beaten them once already, winning 3-0 at Hampden Park in March.
Euro 2024 qualifying Group A
Scotland will be mindful of the sides below them – Spain in particular – who have games in hand and the capacity to build some momentum with a couple of wins within a week.
The Scots have just one qualifier during this break, with their second match being the 150th anniversary game at Hampden Park against old rivals England.
Grealish and Alexander-Arnold out of England squad
Before that, Gareth Southgate’s team travel to Poland to face Ukraine on Saturday for their sole qualifier of the break.
The Three Lions also top their group with a perfect record after four matches. A victory over the side that is second in the table this weekend will further strengthen their hand.
