Professor Nnenna Oti held her ground when spoke. Her presentation was not only professorial but eloquent. And many say she won herself a job and campaign manager if she ever want to venture into that calling.
Firsty, she shocked the delegates by insisting that the use of gender by various speakers is misplaced because many seemed to have confined their definition of gender to women. “No, no”, she thundered. “Men are becoming the minority: in schools boys are in the minority, there are no male nurses anymore. “We have heard of Market women, but no market men, mammy market but no papa market” she said as a matter of fact.
There is gender inequality everywhere for men she insisted and went on to propose the setting up of the Ministry of Gender Affairs or Ministry of Men and Boys Affairs.
Her reasons for the latter ministry? “Please this is off the record. So that they will be taught how to use that instrument or tool that they use to rape girls and women properly,” she said in a rather conspiratory tone.
You bet she was applauded and urged on and you will be right.
