As part of efforts to promote peaceful co-existence in Kaduna state, a group, under the aegis of Rigasa Action and Awareness Forum (RAAF), alongside other Christian groups have organised peaceful rally in the state.
The essence is to supplement government’s effort in promoting peaceful co-existence in the state, particularly among followers of the two major religions, Islam and Christianity.
Speaking during the peaceful rally to mark the group’s Peace Week in the Rigasa a suburb of Kaduna Metropolis, RAAF Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Ahmadu said the objective is to maintain existing peace, stability and unity of the state.
“We also intend to work hand in hand with other associations that have similar aims and objectives with our forum. This is why we organised this peace rally with our Christians brothers from Gonin-Gora, Sabon-Tasha and Hayin Narayi, to let the people know that we have agreed to live in peace with each other,” he said.
According to him, year 2015 is fast approaching; therefore, youths have to be very careful and vote for individuals with integrity and not just the political party.
He called on youths in the state to remain peaceful and law-abiding and to focus on developmental programmes that will move the state forward.
Comrade Ibrahim said their forum also aimed at creating awareness about the dangers of social vices and drug abuses in the society.
The youths further called on the state government to ensure they take the issue of youth employment seriously.
