The Nigerian Muslims have been charged to rise to the country’s insecurity challenges by defending themselves against insurgency attacks.
Stating this at the weekend during a 3-day National Youth Seminar, JIBWIS National Youth President, Ustaz Muhammad Murtala Idris said the decision has become imperative due to persistent attacks on the Muslims especially in the North-West zone of the country.
At the event, which also witnessed the launching of seventy million naira of national youth secretariat, the Ustaz delivered a lecture with the theme, ‘The Role of Youth in Addressing Juvenile Delinquency’.
Ustaz Muhammad said the security operatives have failed in providing absolute security to the people. “I will suggest that we must rise and form the means of providing security for ourselves in order to complement the security operatives”, he said.
He continued, “Muslims must be vigilant and aware of strange faces in our midst and whoever that the people are not comfortable with should be investigated or reported to the responsible security operatives.”
He said youth should intensify effort in seeking for knowledge both western and Islamic otherwise they would be dependent upon non Muslims for security, medical and the rest. “Islam is not an isolated religion, it thrives with useful innovations and it is when there are respected and decent youths that we would hope to take over the mantle of leadership across all tiers of government”, he advised.
