The Director-General of the National Office of Technology Acquisition and Documents Promotion, Alhaji Umar Bindir has disassociated himself from the Agency’s Director of Finance, over the whopping sum of N17 million reportedly collected by the Agency from the Service Wide Vote SWV,
Bindir, who appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, said his director of finance, Mr. J N Useni acted without his consent to use the money being managed by the Budget Office on behalf of the Federal Government for contingency expenditures.
The DG, who appeared before the committee, Chaired by Rep Solomon Adeola Olamilekan (APC Lagos), with other top officials of the Agency over the sum of N39.34m reportedly collected from the Service-Wide Vote between the period of 2004 and 2012 under review, said, “the application for the N17,825,960.000 was written to the Director of Budge Office by the DFA without my consent”.
According to the DG,”And so I did not sign for the money when it was released and was returned back to the Federation Account, while a query was issued to the officials who wrote the application without approval”.
Rep Olamilekan, who advised the DG to personally supervise the collation of all the relevant documents requested by the Committee at the next appearance, warned that if there was any further shortcoming discovered, the Committee would have no option than to embark on a full investigation in to the financial transactions of the Agency.
