Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has opined that measure has been put in place in order to revamp the local government administration in the state for efficient service delivery as well as devoid of sharp practices as witnessed in the past.
The Commissioner, Yusuf Aliyu Turaki who made the assertion while answering questions from newsmen in his office in Lafia the state capital yesterday, says that local government administration in the state needed absolute change for the better viewed from the sharp practices ranging from the nature of how casual staffs of the ministry were engaged in the past.
According to him “I met over 200 casual staff in the ministry. Some are working elsewhere and are receiving salaries from 15-20 Thousand monthly from the ministry without contributing anything to it. I cannot tolerate such corrupt tendency. I must sanitize the system for improve service delivery which is in-line with the administration of Engineer Abdullahi Sule.”
Turaki who further asserted that the ministry is working in collaboration with all the local government council chairmen, (ALGON) in the state aimed at supporting the leadership of governor Abdullahi Sule’s policy and programmes geared toward improving the living standard of the grass roots as one of his basic campaign promises.
“Turaki admonished politicians, students, women, civil servants, farmers and relevant stakeholders in the state to rally round the governor as well as give him the desire and frantic support to enable him carryout pragmatic projects in the state as assured during his inauguration. He is a man of his word. Let assist him maximally for a better Nasarawa State developmentally” Turaki maintained.
The commissioner said that, the state is in need of people of mature minds, sincerity, wealth of experiences as well as determined and committed so as to move it to the greater heights developmentally.
