Winners of National Quranic recitation competition, which was recently held in Jigawa state, yesterday received their cars and other consolation prizes in Kaduna.
The nine participants among which five of them emerged overall winners in the competition held in February were all Kaduna state indigenes.
Kaduna state was among the 28 states including Abuja that participated in the competition and won the entire major prizes including all the five Kia model Saloon cars for 1st- 5th category positions.
Presenting the prizes to the heroes, the state Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mahmoud said the victory is a challenge to the participants as they prepare to represent the state and country internationally.
In his remarks, state Chairman of the Quranic Recitation Committee, Dr Muhammad Bello Salanke expressed his happiness for the victory the state recorded at the competition.
Suleiman Saleh from Ikara local government area became the overall winner in the complete memorization and translation of the Holy Quran and would be representing the country in Saudi Arabia for the world recitation competition.
In the women category, Wasila Halliru Sani from Sabon Gari Zaria, won the 1st position in the complete memorization and translation of the Quran, she will represent the country at the world Quranic competition in Saudi Arabia.
Both of them were also given 3 scholarships each to study in the country of their choice. They also got 3 Hajj seats each courtesy of Lagos, Kaduna and Jigawa states government and other consolation prizes.
The remaining participants that won cars include Abubakar Umar Balarabe, Zaria, Farida Dayyib Alhassan, Chikun, Zainab Bello Kofa, Fa’iza Hassan Nuhu from Igabi and Muhammad Abba Zaria.
