The Nembe City FC of Bayelsa State has Petition the House committee on sports to as matter of urgent intervene on the exclusion of the club from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) by the League Management Company (LMC).
In a petition letter made available to news in Abuja signed by it secretary, Noah Odogwu urged the House to intervene in the biased decision of the LMC to excluded Nembe City and Giwa United from the NPFL that are owned by an individuals.
The letter further said that the exclusion would make about seventy persons and families become unemployment and face a very bleak future, adding that the club has not only create livelihood for these persons but also create allied employment.
According to Odogwu, the propitiator of the club, Chief Rumson Baribote has some personal issues to settle with the leadership of the Nigeria Football federation (NFF).
However, the LMC through the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Salihu Abubakar has said 18 clubs substantially met the requirements and received provisional approvals to compete in the league.
“We have been scrutinizing the registration materials returned by the clubs and can now state that Nembe City and Giwa FC are in substantial default of the minimum requirements to participate in the Premier League this season.
They have consequently been withdrawn from the fixture and all matches involving both Clubs are cancelled”, Abubakar said in Abuja.
