In pursuit of her commitment to promote public understanding of nutrition, water and agriculture / rural development issues, Nestlé – a Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company is set to organise a Creating Shared Value (CSV) media workshop. The workshop aimed at raising the level of media coverage of nutrition, water and agriculture / rural development will hold on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Darlington Hall, Industrial Crescent, Ilupeju.
Featured speakers will provide new perspective on how to mainstream nutrition, water and rural development reporting in the media. The Head of Nutrition, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Chris Isokpunwu, will deliver the keynote address on “Reducing the risk of under-nutrition in Nigeria through micronutrient fortification: challenges and prospects. The President of Nutrition Society of Nigeria, Professor NgoziNnam will speak on “The first 1000 days of life: role of right nutrition and feeding practices”. The Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, DrOlukayodeOyeleye will lead discussion on “Supporting farming as a business and livelihood of choice in Nigeria: the Agricultural Transformation Agenda of the federal government. The President, African Federation of Science Journalists and Editor-in-Chief, AfricaSTI will talk on “Effective approach to reporting water issues.
The workshop will be declared opened by the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Nestlé Nigeria, MrDharneshGordhon. The workshop will bring together journalists and development communication experts from print, electronic and online media to discuss the role that media can play in addressing development challenges in nutrition, water and agriculture / rural development. Together they will search for innovative reporting models that will leverage the power of media to shape public debate and policies on these issues for Nigeria’s long term economic development.
