Following the not too impressive performance of the Nations senior women team in the international friendly match against the Cameroon Lioness played at the FIFA goal project of the Abuja National stadium on Tuesday, the Nigeria Football Federation has extended invitation to nine foreign based players ahead of the Africa Women Championship, AWC qualifiers in May.
NFF head of competition, Sanusi Mohammed who disclosed this to 2muchsports.com noted that they do not want to take any chance in the qualification of the team for the Africa Women Championship.
The Nigeria Super Falcons would be taking on the She-Wasps of Rwanda in the qualifying round of the AWC and Sanusi maintained that Nigeria must feature their very best to ensure that they beat the Rwandans to the qualification.
According to Sanusi, the nine players they have invited are; Perpetual Nkwocha who plays for Swedish side, Sunnana SK, Ogonna Chukwudi of Umea IK also of Sweden, Serah Micheal who also plies her trade with another Swedish side, KIF Orebro and Faith Ikidi, plays for another Swedish club, Pitea IF.
The other players they have invited are; Onome Ebi, plays with a Turkey side, Atasehir Belediyesi, Desire oparanozie, plays for a German side, Atasehir Belediyespor, Osinachi Ohale of Huston Dynamo in the United States of America and Francesca Ordega who plays her football in the same club with Faith Ikide.
Sanusi also revealed that two other players,Rita Chikwelu and Cynthia Uwak are also likely to be called up for the crucial encounter.
He stated that the Nigeria Football Federation has written to the respective clubs pleading with them to release the players to them at least two weeks before the qualifying match so as to enable the players blend properly with the rest of the players.
Nigeria has not been fairing so well recently at the senior levels of the Africa women football, losing the Africa crown recently to Equatorial Guinea. They were also denied qualification for the last London Olympic by Cameroon Lioness.
