Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Niger State Command, has arrested one Emmanuel Ageh over alleged 150 alleged fake vehicle plate numbers of different states of the federation.
The State Commandant, Mr George Edem, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Minna
According to Edem, the suspect was trailed and arrested in Suleja Local Government Area of the state, following a tip-off.
He said that the suspect was equally found with different receipt booklets comprising of Kogi, Nasarawa and Kaduna states through which he allegedly issues to people in other states.
The Commandant further disclosed that during interrogation Agai claimed to be a contract staff of the Niger State Board of Internal Revenue services for years.
“When we contacted the Board of Internal Revenue, they told us that there was never a time they entered into contract with the suspect.” he stated.
The suspect told our correspondent that he was engaged by the Suleja Local Government since 2006 till 2019.
“The Niger state government Board of Internal Revenue, contacted me at the expiration of my contract on December, 31 2019, which they cannot deny and in 2020, they did not review my contract with them.” he explained.
When asked why he issued plate numbers and receipts to people in other states, the suspect stated, “I have my colleagues in other states who can help when it is necessary to enable people to travel. I have relevant documents from Niger State Internal Revenue services in 2019 to show, but I don’t have for 2020.”
“I am well known in the in the Niger state board of internal revenue, HOD stickers knew that I am operating with them to increase the IGR of the state. “
The state Commandant then advised members of the public to desist from dealing with quacks that would put them into trouble hence the matter would be charged to court after investigation.
