Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare , the Director-General, National Teachers’ Institute Kaduna has expressed the Institute’s readiness to organise teachers’ professional development on any theme that may be desirable.
Azare made the remarks during the flag-off ceremony of the 2018 moral, HIV/AIDS awareness workshop for head teachers, organised by NTI in collaboration with faith based awareness Initiative, under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at Liyafa palace hotel on Monday.
“ This is especially possible against the backdrop of the fact that we have long years of experience behind us , in addition to the long -standing relationship we have established with our co-operating universities and colleges of education around the country, “ he said.
He said that NTI has a pool of human and material resources ready to organise any training for the Nigerian teachers.
He commended the federal government for being sensitive to the aspiration of its citizens, which seeks to cater for their training needs and intellectual capabilities.
While flagging-off the commencement of the training, Executive Governor of Katsina Aminu Bello Masari , represented by the state Commissioner of Education, Dr. Badamasi Lawal Charanchi, said the choice of the state as venue for the workshop is not a misplaced priority, as it matches the administration’s commitment for the provision of quality education and functional health care services.
He called on the management of the Institute to organise more workshops in the area of drugs , violence in schools , cultism and examination malpractice .
Sen. Kaka Mallam Yale, Chairman NTI Governing Council, represented by a member of the Council , who is the Director-General FRCN , Dr. Mansur Liman , said the present administration is committed to the provision of quality education and good health programmes.
“The annual nationwide capacity building workshops for teachers in five key areas , is a step taken in the right direction, “ he said.
He said the federal government is willing and ready to eradicate the Hiv/ Aids diseases in the country.
Also speaking at the occasion, Mr. Folorunsho Oloruntunde , consultant for Faith based HIV/AIDS awareness Initiative , said the goal of the workshop is to increase the knowledge of participating teachers on disseminating HIV/AIDS lessons from moral perspective and the associated cultural issues.
Prof. Muslih Tayo Yahaya , Vice Chairman Faith based Board of Trustees said faith based is collaborating with NTI in order to eradicate the diseases in the country.
Representative of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Dr. Ifeyinwa Nnamchi Ukaegbu having appreciated the Federal Ministry of Education and the Minister , congratulated NTI for improving the capacity of teachers, to meet up with the global standard.
