The National Teachers Institute (NTI), has designed a learning website for English teachers in the country.
The Director-General of the Institute, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja, during a sensitization workshop on Mobile Technology and teachers development in Nigeria.
Sharehu said the new website will help build the capacity of English teachers in the country.
“Unlike the first phase where 57 primary school English language teachers were selected, the second phase will avail all teachers in the country the opportunity to access the http://cpdprimary.com/ website for information that will help them in teaching students. The second phase has also made it possible for the teachers to use all sorts of phones that has internet facilities; including laptops and iPad.
“Information and articles will be updated from time to time on the website for the teachers to study and equip themselves so as to meet up with the current trend of globalization which has placed every information on the internet. If we are done with English, other subjects will also have their own websites, to help teachers in those areas”, Sharehu said.
He said the mobile technology project, which is supported by UNESCO and sponsored by NTI, in collaboration with British Council, will give the country a new lift in education.
On his part, the Minister of Education Nyesom Wike, who was represented by his Special Assistant on technical matters, Olu Ayewoh harped on the need for teachers to equip themselves with computer knowledge.
