Ahead of the 2015 governorship election, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), both at the state and national levels, have begun to mount heavy pressure on Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, member of the House Representatives from the state to dump the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) for the party.
The member representing Egbadi South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in the House is also the chairman of the House committee on Science and Technology.
Other staunch members of the APC who belonged to the Akinlade political family are also under heavy pressure to return to the PDP in the state.
A source in the party hierarchy disclosed that the Presidency had already contacted the lawmaker who had hitherto perfected plans to defect from the APC to the Labour Party in order to pursue his governorship ambition in the state by 2015.
The source who would not want to be named for security reasons told this reporter that several emissaries have been sent to the Ogun lawmaker to negotiate his terms of return to the PDP in the state.
According to him, they are at the verge of finalizing the talks as Akinlade is generally seen as one of those politicians with requisite supporters to deliver the state to the PDP by 2015.
Although attempts were made to speak to the lawmaker on the issue, he has been evasive in his comments as he maintained that whatever happens would be the outcome of his consultations with the stakeholders in the state.
