The Ogun State Police Command yesterday decorated 200 of its men who were promoted in the recently by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar.
The breakdown of the promotion showed that, seven were promoted from Superintendent of Police to Chief Superintendent, 12 Deputy Superintendent to Superintendent, 5 Assistant Superintendent to Deputy Superintendent of Police while 176 Inspectors were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Speaking after the decoration exercise, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye said the promotion is expected to motivate and encourage them to be more alive to their responsibilities of ensuring security of lives and property across the state.
He noted that, promotion is a challenge that must be well defended for the public to appreciate.
Responding on behalf of his promoted colleagues, Muideen Adisa, who is the Officer in-charge, Legal Department expressed appreciation to the police authorities over the promotions.
The Chief Superintendent of Police assured the public that with their new ranks, they would live up to the expectations of the Police Force “The promotion is an opportunity for us. I am using this opportunity
to tell the public and Inspector-General of Police that we shall not lack on our duties”, Adisa said.
