The Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has said only players from his U17 World Cup-winning squad who remain focused would be in his new team.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have cautioned Manu over promoting his U17 team wholesale to the U20s, stressing that he must give room for competition by inviting other players within the age bracket to fight for places in his team.
“It all depends on the players who remain focused. Players who are doing very well at the moment,” Manu noted.
“But one thing is that about 10,11 of the first team players from the U17 team are already outside the country. This makes it difficult for us to start with that set of players.
“I will try to give a lot of players a chance to see what they can, so that we can have a stable team on ground.
“So when the need arises, we could invite those who are abroad to come and fortify the team”
Manu is expected to soon open a training camp for the Flying Eagles, who are billed in May to take on the winners of the match between Kenya and Tanzania in the qualifying series for the 2015 AYC.
