Traditional rulers and his Council of Chiefs of Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State on Thursday endorsed the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Mr Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Mr Philip Shaibu for the September 19, 2020 Governorship election, saying that they cannot afford to suffer another humiliating defeat after the former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was removed from office in June 2020.
The Ogieneni of Uzairue, His Royal Majesty Kadiri Imonikhe Omogbae (IV) made the declaration when members of Edo PDP Governorship Campaign Council led Governor Godwin Obaseki paid him a courtesy visit at his palace at Uzairue, comprising 21Clans.
The Traditional ruler who honoured Governor Godwin Obaseki with the Chieftaincy title of ‘Onosorena (The man God has crowned’) and conferred his deputy, Mr Philip Shaibu the title of Oshiozekhae (God chooses King) of Uzairue Kingdom, declared that the good work of the Governor and his deputy in the past four years, will speak for them in the forthcoming poll.
According to him, “Based on what you have done in the past four years, we will vote for you…You know that you are my son. We lost one of our sons before; We can’t afford to lose again.
“I promise that Uzairue will give you 100 per cent…Your good deeds will speak for you.
“All you need is prayers. Whatever you want, you will get it”, he said.
“The prescribed authority of Uzairue Kingdom who offered prayers”, he said.
The Ogieneni also urged the Government to upgrade the popular Uzairue market to a modern standard and reconstruct one of the roads in the Community.
Earlier in a remark, the Village head of Aifowa in Uzairue, Chief Francis IImoikha, assured the PDP Candidate of its support and return him elected.
He said: “We cannot afford to our position. One is already gone and the other one is on. We have said that we will give you 100 per cent support.
“We have seen development and we are happy with the way that you are going”, he said.
Responding, Governor Godwin Obasekiz urged the traditional rulers in the locality to prevail on their subject to give peace a chance ahead of the election.
He urged the monarchs to help him to thank his deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu for his unparallel support to his Government and loyalty, describing him as a warrior.
“Help me to thank my deputy for his unparallel loyalty and support. He is a warrior who has displayed the true values of Uzairue people.
“Your excellency, for the fact that, Chief Mike Oghiadomen, the former deputy Governor and former Chief of Staff to the President and the State deputy Governor are following you, we will support you.
