The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has expressed the firm optimism that the party will work to victory in the 2023 general election, regardless of the little challenges it may be facing now.
Secondus pointedly declared that the
structure of the PDP is intact and that anybody who resigns will have his or her position filled the next day.
The PDP National Chairman said this in a statement yesterday in reaction to the resignation of seven national officers of the party and the call on him by the National Youth Leader of the party, Hon Ude-Okoye.
Secondus similarly declared that all those who are looking for interim government, few months to general election, “are taking us back to Egypt and no body is ready to go back to Egypt.
“We have passed through this road before and we don’t want to go back there”, he said
In a statement last night, the Special Adviser on Media, to the National Chairman, Mr Ike Abonyi said, “I want to assure members of the party that the structure of the party is intact and Prince Secondus is the National Chairman.
“Anybody who resigns will have his position filled the next day and this party will work to victory in 2023 there is no going back about it.
“All those who are looking for interim government few months to general election are taking us back to Egypt and no body is ready to go back to Egypt.
“We have passed through this road before and we do t want to go back there”, he said.
While commenting on the allegations by the National Youth Leader of the PDP on the claim of incompetence and self enrichment against the National Chairman, Abonyi dismissed such, saying there was nothing like that.
According to him, “regarding the press conference of the Youth leader who is realizing, after three and half years, that Secondus is incompetent, that Secondus is enriching himself, it took him three and a half years and four, five months to the convention, it is very unfortunate.
“He has operated as the youth leader of this party since December 2017 with Secondus as National Chairman and has worked with him. But suddenly, few months to convention, after the game of this morning, in some parys of Abuja, he suddenly discovered that Secondus is incompetent, he suddenly discovered that Secondus is enriching himself?
“Udo- Okoye should obey his sponsors and leave Secondus alone and dance the music of his sponsors”, he said.
The Media Adviser to Secondus described as unfortunate the statement from the Party’s National Youth leader calling on the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus to resign from his position.
