Power Holding Company of Nigeria/Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company said it is losing the sum of N10 million daily following the recent windstorm which destroyed four of the power supply distribution towers.
Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Abuja, Engineer Thomas Uwah disclosed this while conducting the Chief Executive/Managing Director of KEDC, Alhaji Mohammed Idris and his management team round the four collapsed towers in Kwana/Mariga in Rafi Local government area of Niger State yesterday.
He said to re-erect the collapsed towers will cost the company approximately 7.5million naira each.
“We have started construction of a temporary by pass line which will be completed in the next three weeks,” Engineer Owah said.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of KEDC, Alhaji Mohammed Idris said the fall of the towers came as a surprise to him because since the commissioning of the lines in 80’s, no windstorm or rain storm has ever pulled down any of its towers across the nation.
He called on customers who are directly affected to exercise patience as teams from the TCN headquarters and PHCN are working round the clock to salvage the situation.
