Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Andie Undie has said that the Police in the state won’t be part of vote buying during the upcoming local government election.
He said,” our duty is strictly to secure the process.”
This is even as he vowed to deal with any trouble maker and their sponsors during the exercise adding that religious or ethnic politics won’t be tolerated.
The state LG poll was postponed three times due to insecurity bedeviling the state before finally, it was rescheduled to hold on Wednesday, 10.
Undie made this known at the weekend at the Police Officers’ Mess during a joint security meeting with all security heads, religious and other stakeholders in the state.
“The police and other security agencies will not involve or participate in anything that has to do with vote buying during the council elections. It is not our duty. Our duty is to secure the process. The remaining thing is left for the politicians.
“I want to assure you that no security personnel will ignite crisis. I call on them to watch their actions and play the game by rules..
“We won’t also allow religious or ethnic politics. Nobody should use religious or ethnic politics. The issue of religion should be out of it. The commissioner said.
“We shall bring to book whoever commit crisis during and after the elections nobody will be exempted, “ Undie said.
