The police yesterday in Abuja arraigned one Adebayo Sanni, 52, in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court charged with criminal force, assault, trespass and mischief.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Jeremiah Elijah, told the court that the accused was a Director-General of an Ilorin-based NGO, Harmony Holding Ltd.
Elijah said that Messrs Michael Bucknor of Prince and Princess Estate and Mr Oludota Emmanuel of Bassa Village, Airport road, Abuja, reported the case at Lugbe Police Station.
He said that the complainants reported that the accused trespassed on their site with some unidentified naval officers and destroyed their property.
The prosecutor said that the complainants listed their destroyed property to include Iron rod mounted on the foundation level valued at N10,000.
He said that the accused also instructed one of the officers to beat the security on the site, adding that during the interrogation, he could not defend his actions.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 265, 348 and 327 of Penal Code.
After the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.
The Magistrate, Mr Celestine Odoh, admitted the accused to bail for N200,000 with a surety.
He ordered that the surety must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 5 in the federal civil service.
The magistrate ordered that the surety must produce a photocopy of a letter of appointment and be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
Odoh adjourned the case to April 7 for further hearing. (NAN)
